Today marks the 2nd anniversary of officially opening Savage Queen LLC and Arsenal Wares but it’s no coincidence that today my Mom, Janice Lynne Shattuck would have also turned 58 years old. 2 years ago today I was sitting with my Dad at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. We were all still living with the pain of losing my Mom a couple months before when he was suddenly diagnosed with a later stage of cancer. Things had been so rough at home and while undergoing his weekly chemo infusion session I finally felt safe enough to work on my MacBook and focus on the launch of my first little store on Etsy to honor my Mom on her birthday. Looking back I don’t know exactly why that was my survival response to everything happening but I do know that it was that small hint of adventure that kept me going inside. Mom, since then everyday I learn new ways to turn the pain into something beautiful and I couldn’t have done this without the impact you left behind. Since the beginning I kept this quote close to my heart, “The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” and I know now more then ever that you have created something that will continue to live on. You are every bit a part of this as you’ve ever been. You are the Savage Queen.
